What's the definition of a good player?
How do you quantify exactly what makes a good player? Is it how much the player talks? What the character can do? How helpful the character is? If a guy is a dope and tactical moron, but a fun guy to be around is he a "good player"? If a player has no charm whatsoever, but he is amazing in his ability to think thought role-playing adventures, is that player a good player? What is the essence of a good player? What are the rules? I'm not sure I know. --Will
Hrm, gets along with the other players outside the game. Can roleplay and strategize, but not necessarily expertly. For example, I may not ever have the most experience at these games being the youngest gamer in DC, j/k. Yet, I don't consider myself a horrible gamer. To be honest, I've only played D&D half a dozen times or so.
Really, just anybody who can make the game enjoyable for everyone else while having fun himself. You don't need to build a perfect character. I hate when people nitpick your character choice. It's a freaking game :P Cookie-cutter characters are a dime a dozen. Make something fun to play and stick with it. That's why I'm fond of hindrances and quirks. I almost wish I can get crippled like Faelon. You can have so much fun RPing that, as long as it doesn't get excessively in the way of your adventure.
I've enjoyed everybody in our group, even Josh and Terri Ann. They've all brought some enjoyment to my game and that's what I consider good play, hence they are good players. We're all actors on the stage. If we can't enjoy the art and make others enjoy it, why are we doing it?
