PERSONAL HISTORY:
Prince Faelon III was born to King Faelon II of Pergael and Queen Aerhen in the small kingdom of Pergael ruled by the House of El-Masri. His siblings are Crown Prince Liam (26), Princess Siobhan (25), Prince Eoghan (21), and Princess Aoife (22). He has a niece by his sister, Siobhan.

At a young age Faelon showed promise as he was both bright and strong. The older he became the more he realized that he couldn’t stand in his more charismatic older brother’s shadow and soon became dissatisfied with life in the royal court. When he was young, his escapism manifested itself through his books and learning. He was tutored from a young age and thus has a liberal education. As he became older, his disdane for the royal court led to frequent admonishment from his disappointed father, King Faelon II. In his youth, he spent most of his time with his younger sister, Aoife.

As he got older, Faelon found that he became less and less interested in books and more interested in girls—but his natural intelligence made up for his lack of discipline in his studies. He became a frequent guest at salons and grand balls in order to meet as many of them as he could. At around the age of 12, Faelon made a friend of a lower nobleman’s child by the name of Harun. The two spent their young adulthood getting into trouble and chasing girls as Faelon became more acquainted with life outside the royal court and the perks of being a prince.

At around the age of 16, Faelon fell into an obsessive, youthful love for a rich merchant’s daughter, Haniya. This was unrequited and he fell on some very dark times. His behavior became worse and he and Harun began to dabble in serious crime under the tutelage of a manipulative master thief, Oisen Khan (who at the time subconsciously filled the father-figure roll for Faelon). Through the next few years, Faelon and Harun practiced and tested their skills as grunts in Khan’s criminal empire. Through all of this, Faelon led a double life; grudgingly playing the role of a 2nd-in-line prince during the day, and by night rubbing shoulders with the criminal element of his city. He did this out of spite for his elder brother and in rebellion of his disapproving father, not for need of money or desperation.

As time went on, Faelon’s conscience began to warn him of the slippery slope he was headed down. His friend, Harun, had already become an enforcer for Khan and was known to have killed several men (though he was always a true friend to Faelon). However, he did not break relations soon enough. Sensing Faelon’s dissatisfaction with the criminal underworld, Khan (who was a strong political force in the city), accused Faelon of raping his daughter and provided several witnesses to King Faelon II. Though this was not the case, it could have been devastating to the House of El-Masri’s reputation if he went public with his accusation. The King agreed to pay out a large sum to Khan for his discretion and sent Faelon out of the kingdom in a fit of rage. Queen Aerhen secretly provided Faelon with money and human resources before he left.

Tormented by his past, Faelon is in the borderlands—regretting his choices and the dishonor he brought upon himself. He is attempting to atone for his mistakes.. if only to himself. He subconsciously feels that he must prove his worth to his father and secretly wants to outdo his older brother. His old roguish ways die hard but he feels that this is his test in life and is looking to change his direction and become both honorable and wise to the world around him.

RECENT HISTORY

Faelon arrived in Memphis with his old friend and vizier Llaun and his bodyguard, Kevyn. He hired 2 native scouts and pushed west. Still in his old mindframe, he succumbed to a prostitute in Chumly, waking up the next day and feeling horribly guilty-- his guilt was compounded by the fact that this same kind of behavior is what led to his disgrace in his native lands.

Throughout his recent travels, Faelon began to comprehend the responsibility that comes a long with his status as royalty and has made small efforts to act in a more responsible way.

Also, for a man who has never been in want of anything, having all of his belongings stolen from him and those in his service had a profound effect on his sense of material wealth-- it can be taken away very easily and that he doesn't nessesarily deserve the trapping of royalty when he has done nothing to earn them.

With this realization, he decided to make the protection of the Barony of Telero his struggle, his jihad... and everything he has done since arriving is to this end. In fact, while he feels very strongly for the young baroness, he has resisted taking advantage of her as he would have done in the past. He has also taken up the sword as he feels that this is the most direct way of protecting Telero.

Recently Faelon had a life-changing event. During a battle with montrous Stag Beetles, he brazenly ignored a well laid plan and was very nearly killed as a result. Had it not been for his companions (as he now calls them) he would have surely been dead. This hit him hard... before he placed very little value on others in his arrogance and now he realizes that he is truly a part of a team.
