Old
After years of hair-raising adventures and close calls, Llaun Tersoal began to rethink his life as an itinerant rapscallion and con artist. A chance meeting with a cleric, Rabbi Simeon, who was once a colleague reminded him of how much he enjoyed studying magic, and when he helped his old friend get out of a tricky jam, he discovered the joys of doing a good deed. Llaun returned to his first love -- magic -- and thoroughly enjoyed himself for a short time. It wasn't long, however, before the old wanderlust stuck him once again. He was briefly torn between his two vocations, but his resourcefulness soon asserted itself, and he found of path of study that allowed him to follow both his interests, as the rogueish Prince's vizier. Llaun hasn't given up entirely on Prince Faelon's confidence games and swindles, having been there once himself. One of Llaun's cousins once told him: "You can't con an honest being," and Llaun has discovered the adage is true. He loves nothing better than separating petty tyrants, dishonest merchants, and corrupt officials from their ill-gotten gains, but avoids any affiliation with any ethical faction. Fanatical paladins disgust him just as much. He still enjoys playing the role of the callow sage. Sometimes he poses as an advisor (concealing his magical powers), so he can keep foes guessing about what he can accomplish and what he might try next.
New
Llaun is your typical introvert. Growing up, he had a weight problem (and still does) and doesn't appreciate it when people bring it up. He towers over most other humans though, and so he's like the shy giant (6'6" and 280 lbs). Prince Faelon loves to bring up the weight issue though, when Llaun disagrees with him on something. This makes Llaun an ineffectual vizier, until one day he falls off a 500 ft cliff and survives...
Up until his fall Lluan was cautious, because he's book smart. He'll overanalyze the situation and typically focus on the negative consequences of a particular action.
Llaun's best friend is also the one of the few people in the group who doesn't speak Common, his familiar Bailey. He has a bit more of a stronger emotional bond with his familiar than most spellcasters. He doesn't appreciate using his raven to scout for danger, because he is cautious and protective of his familiar. He hasn't particularly bonded with any of his fellow adventurers yet, but doesn't have a problem with any of them either.
Llaun also will prefer memorizing disabling and summoning spells to pure offensive magic. It must be something about that messy blood and burnt flesh that comes with the school of evocation, lol. When things are in a lull, he'll be busy trying to burn some weight (jogging) or at your local library studying. He's not the party type and stays away from the Indians and their firewater.
He is proud of his pureblooded heritage as well. Though, there are few cases where this is ever brought up in the campaign. It is still important to note that he believes he is a full-blooded Pergaelese, when in fact he is a mix of Gaelic and German, hence the name Llaun. This might be brought into the story by the DM later on, somehow.
Currently, this group is carrying around a trio of haunted urns and he's been against them lugging it around after he read about the nature of the urns in a map from a dead adventurer, who died at the pueblo they retrieved it from. Seriously, how much more warning do you need? But obviously his
title of Vizier is more ceremonial now than practical, since Prince Faelon has been pushing his advice aside more and more. This should probably be remedied somehow. Not sure how to punish the prince though with the new Llaun. Be creative!
He's only carrying around a light crossbow (10 bolts), quarterstaff, backpack, waterskin, rations, candles, spell component pouch, spellbook, and a wand of monster summoning (20 charges of monster summoning I, 19 charges of spider summoning and 195 gold and 1 silver.
