Gene is a master of disguise. Sandy says Gene is a spellcaster. The party has witnessed his "disappearing act" on two occasions. Tom Holbrook, a wererat and former member of the Order of the Arrow claims to know Gene Parmesian as "The Big Cheese". He claims that Gene infected guards with lycanthropy and it was Gene, not Snodrass, who ran Telero.

The party has discovered that Gene is the villainous mastermind behind all the troubles that Telero is experiencing. He infected half the town's guard with wererat lycanthropy and is himself a wererat. His headquarters are just west of Pueblo Alto where he had imprisoned and tortured the Baron of Telero. At this point, his true motivation is not clear as he barely escaped Faelon's sword. But what is apparent is that he is after the Reclarent, a famed magical sword.
